The Financial Services Authority expects the insurance industry to have achieved contract certainty by December 2006.
Contract certainty means completeing and agreeing all terms, including signed lines between the insured and the insurers before a contract comes into force. On top of this, appropriate evidence of cover is to be issued within 30 days of inception for commercial business and five days for retail business. Sounds straightforward, but the real challenge will be making it happen.
