Brokers put Hiscox top

New online comparison tool helps your household clients to make informed decisions

A new tool has made comparing household policies much easier for both you and your clients. Working in partnership with Defaqto, the independent research company, Hiscox has created an online tool called Defaqto Compare!, which shows you visually how Hiscox policies differ from other insurers’.

Using a traffic-light coding system, Defaqto Compare! allows you to directly compare the product details of almost all home insurance policies with Hiscox’s. The tool is shown in a table format, with a Hiscox policy shown as standard. You then choose which policy you’d like to compare it with from a drop-down menu showing a large selection of home insurance policies.

At a glance, you and your client can see what is and isn’t covered in each policy, as well as highlight possible extras that your client would have to pay for to ensure they get the level of cover they require.

Comparison tables are available for 506 contents insurance, 506 building insurance and 606 buildings and contents insurance.

Defaqto Compare! is a quick and easy-to-use tool that is accessible from anywhere you’ve got internet access.

It enables you to help your clients make informed decisions based on not just price, but value too.

As well as using at the tool online, you can print off the completed tables to use directly with clients or to send them out as part of their renewal.

Countrywide joins Hiscox

Hiscox Underwriting has negotiated a landmark deal with the Countrywide network, which will see its products being offered to members.

The proportion of financial services products sold through intermediaries is surprisingly high. According to the Association of Independent Financial Advisers, it is as much as 62 per cent.

The move recognises that the role of established networks, such as Countrywide, in getting insurance products to consumers is growing.

Members on the partner broker initiative who trade using Hiscox products will benefit from a range of features, including access to dedicated underwriting services, excellent rates of commission and Hiscox’s own online quotation system.

Ross Dingwall, UK Sales Manager at Hiscox Underwriting, said: “This is a significant move for Hiscox. The broker distribution channel is at the heart of our business and we recognise that established networks, such as Countrywide, play an increasingly important role.”
